Based in Hong Kong and Paris, Emmanuelle Pui-Ki Ta is an arbitration practitioner with over 20 years of experience in international arbitration, with a particular focus on Asia-related cases. During her tenure at the ICC, she supervised thousands of international arbitration cases across a wide variety of jurisdictions and economic sectors, primarily involving parties from Asia, Oceania and the Middle East. Her expertise spans a wide range of sectors, including construction, energy, finance, insurance, pharmaceuticals, investment and commercial disputes.
Building on this extensive experience, Ms Ta served as the Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General of eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre (2021-2024). In this role, she played a key part in advancing the use of technology in arbitration and mediation, ensuring efficient and effective resolution of disputes. She also oversaw the design and development of the eBRAM online dispute resolution platform, significantly streamlining dispute resolution processes and enhancing accessibility for parties worldwide.
Prior to that, Ms Ta was Counsel and Head of the ICC Asia Office at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Hong Kong (2016-2021). Earlier in her career, she held the position of Deputy Counsel at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, working in both Paris and Hong Kong (2001-2011). Additionally, she gained valuable experience as a trainee in the Arbitration Group of Clifford Chance in Paris (2004) and Salans in Paris (2001).
Recently, she founded her own boutique arbitration practice - PTA Arbitration. As an independent practitioner, she leverages her expertise across a wide range of disputes and focuses principally on sitting as arbitrator.
Drawing on her extensive institutional knowledge, Ms Ta is frequently invited to speak at events and conferences around the world, sharing her insights and contributing to capacity building initiatives.
She is qualified to practice at the Paris bar and has extensive experience handling cases governed by various legal systems.
